FTCES Student Council
Overview:
Student Council now has the opportunity to provide students at FTCES with a more effective, cohesive peer leadership program, and Student Council members have the opportunity to make a difference in our school. Being in a leadership position is great for adolescent development and will improve the climate and culture of FTCES. Student Council is offered to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students ONLY.
Selection Process
We will hold an election for members of our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes who are interested and, in turn, selected to run for positions based on the quality of their application. There will be significantly fewer members of the Student Council so they can collaborate and provide effective leadership; those selected will be a voice for their peers. If selected to run for Student Council, 6th and 7th grade students will run to be general members, while our 8th grade students will run to be officers. If you are selected to participate in the election, you will have the opportunity to campaign for votes amongst your peers in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Campaigning will include hanging pre-approved posters throughout the school and preparing a speech to solicit votes from your peers. This process will move quickly, so only those students who will take the campaign and the potential position on Student Council seriously should apply.
